Komite Nasional Kebijakan Governance (National Committee on Governance – NCG) was established on 30 November 2004 under the ministerial decree from Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs (Keputusan Menteri Koordinator Bidang Perekonomian No.: KEP-49/M.EKONOM/1/TAHUN 2004). The establishment is about to revitalize the former Komite Nasional Kebijakan Good Corporate Governance (National Committee on Good Corporate Governance) which was established in 1999. NCG was aimed to enhance comprehension and implementation of good governance in Indonesia and alsa to advise the government on governance issues, both in public and corporate sectors.

In order to accomplish the duty, NCG will conduct studies and produce recommendation to enrich the law and regulation with good governance principles. NCG will also formulate gudelines and disseminate the good governance principles.
In corporate sector, with cooperation with research institute and other organizations concerned in corporate governance issues, NCG will develop programs of monitoring and assessment in directorship and corporate governance, especially for publicly listed companies, financial services sector, and state-owned enterprises.
In focusing the effort, NCG developed two sub-committees in the cover issues in corporate governance as well as in public governance.
